Ground Controller

Columbus is the European Module part of the International Space Station (ISS). This module is monitored and controlled by the ESA Flight Control Team (FCT) sitting in the ESA's Columbus Control Centre (Col-CC), located at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) facility in Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany. Col-CC is linked to other ISS control centres i(ncluding Houston and Moscow) by a vast and complex network. This network transports various kind of data (TM/TC, video, voice...) and is monitored and controlled 24/7 by the Ground Control Team. The Ground Control Team is composed of two positions the SYSCON and the Ground Controller (GC). GMV is currently looking for a new Ground controller.

Your main functions will be:

- Monitoring of the computer and network systems and related (data, voice video) services
- Execution of real-time configuration changes
- Troubleshooting and lead of corrective maintenance during real-time and simulation operations
- Single point of contact for Ground Segment related issues with all external agencies in support of real-time operations, simulation and test activities
- Generation, maintenance and validation of operational, system and test procedures
- Verification and testing of new and modified systems and interfaces, internally and with remote sites in the United States, Russia and throughout Europe
- Documentation of activities, configuration changes and anomalies (activity logs, test reports, anomaly reports, etc.)
- Acquire in-depth knowledge of specific subsystems and provision of basic training to team members
- Definition of configurations and setups for forthcoming activities, in coordination with the Ground Operations Planner and Columbus Control Center (Col-CC) subsystem engineers
- Identification of space mission specific ground requirements and capabilities of which that are reflected in reference documents.

- Computer knowledge
- Linux and/or Networking experience is beneficial
- Fluency in written and spoken English;

- Ability to understand, prioritize and filter several audio sources simultaneously
- Willingness to work a 3-shift system, including nights and holidays
- Good teamworking and communication skills
- Punctuality
