- Nov 30, 2025 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time- **Description**:New York University (NYU) Berlin is seeking a part-time lecturer to teach a course on “German Intellectual Tradition” in the Spring 2026 semester. We welcome proposals for a specific theme that is of relevance to today’s students. As an example, a previous version of the course focussed on the theme of “power”, examining critiques, ideas, and analyses of power through (primarily) German-speaking 19th and 20th century social and political thought. Students read a selection of works by authors including Sigmund Freud, Sabina Spielrein, Friedrich Nietzsche, Bertolt Brecht, Karl Marx, Max Weber, Rosa Luxemburg, Walter Benjamin, Carl Schmitt, W.E.B. Du Bois and Audre Lorde, among others, as well as relevant commentary. Field trips can be included in the course. Furthermore, the lecturer is expected to incorporate the use of artificial intelligence in their teaching and assessments, where appropriate - always together with critical evaluation of its use.
- The course is taught in English and meets once per week for 3 hours. The Spring term runs from January 14 to May 8, 2026, with a week-long break from March 16-22.

**Qualifications**:Doctorate in a relevant discipline.
- Record of research and publications in the field.
- A minimum of three years teaching experience at university level.
- Fluency in English and experience teaching in English.-
