Research Associate Biaxial Wheel/hub Testing

The Fraunhofer Institute for Structural Durability and System Reliability LBF in Darmstadt works together with industry and research at a top national and international level. The institute's main research activities focus on specific issues in the areas of structural durability, system reliability, smart structures and plastics.
The Valdiation Wheel-Related Compontens group in the Assemblies and Systems department works on projects for experimental service life evaluation and numerical service life prediction of the wheel head. The fatigue strength of the wheel bearing, wheel hub and wheel components is verified by means of operating load simulations using biaxial wheel testing technology, and potential weak points and over dimensioning are identified. The load assumptions used for this purpose are also used in the Group's development-accompanying numerical service life forecasts to achieve an optimum product design at an early stage.

**What you will do**
- You work on scientific research and development projects in cooperation with partners from both the private and public sectors
- You develop, validate and implement scientific methods, procedures and tools in the field of biaxial wheel/hub testing technology
- You plan projects and prepare proposals and offers for the acquisition of new projects
- You publish and present scientific research results in journals as well as at national and international conferences and conventions
- You support the next generation of scientists by supervising student assistants and their theses
**What you bring to the table**
- Completed university degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering degree
- Good knowledge of structural durability
- Confidence in recording, formulating and communicating complex technical issues
- Good knowledge of written and spoken German and English
- Reliability and team spirit
