**About The Role**:
We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Accountant to enhance our finance team and elevate our accounting processes. In this role, your expertise will play a key role in Blinkist's success by ensuring efficient and seamless accounting operations, optimizing processes, and supporting strategic decision-making at Blinkist. You'll work closely with our Director of Finance and cross-functional teams, contributing directly to strategic decision-making and business growth.

**What You'll Do**:

- **Lead and oversee professional accounting management**, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial operations.
- **Drive monthly and annual closing processes**, maintaining precise and up-to-date financial records and collaborating cross-functionally.
- **Own and improve core accounting operations**, including master data maintenance, processing open items, handling accruals and deferrals, and recording cost centers.
- **Drive continuous improvement**, contributing to the development and optimization of accounting processes.
- **Leading our Annual Statutory Audit, collaborating closely with external auditors.**:

- **Ensure compliance with tax regulations**, handling advance VAT returns (including European VAT) and submitting recapitulative statements.
- **Identify opportunities** to improve and automate accounting workflows.

**What We're Looking For**:

- **Bring 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience** ideally in a dynamic or fast-paced environment.
- **Showcase your strong knowledge of HGB accounting**, including the preparation of insightful business analyses, financial statements and audits.
- **Work independently and proactively**, taking initiative to streamline processes and solve challenges.
- **Thrive on accuracy and attention to detail**, paired with patience and a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- **Communicate effectively and collaborate seamlessly** within a dynamic team environment.
- **Fluency in German and English** is essential to navigate both local and international requirements.
