**Your purpose at Kertos**:
As a Lead Engineer / Tech Lead at Kertos - the European Champion for Compliance Automation - you’ll lead one of our product squads and play a key role in shaping our platform.

You’ll combine** technical leadership and hands-on coding**, making impactful technical decisions, driving our development processes, and pushing the boundaries of automation and innovation.
In close collaboration with our CTO, you’ll work on strategic initiatives, continuously improving how we build, ship, and collaborate — taking both our product and team to the next level.

**OUR TEAM SETUP**
We work in three cross-functional product squads, each focused on one of our core internal products or solutions:
**Squad composition**:

- 1 Product Manager, 1 Product Designer, 3-4 Engineers
- ** Your role**: Each squad is led by a Lead Engineer / Tech Lead, reporting directly to the CTO
- ** Collaboration style**:Flat hierarchies, shared ownership, and strong cross-functional teamwork

**TECH STACK**
- ** Backend**: Python (Django)
- ** Frontend**: React.js, TypeScript
- ** Infrastructure**: AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, terraform, ArgoCD, Karpenter
- ** AI**: LangChain, LangGraph, Langfuse
- ** DevOps** **& Tools**: We experiment with cutting-edge tools like Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, Copilot, Raycast - and encourage you to push for the best setup for your work

**YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES**
- ** Lead with impact**:Guide your team in making smart, high-value technical decisions
- ** Stay hands-on**: Spend ~70% of your time coding and contributing to the codebase
- ** Mentor & grow**: Support your engineers through code reviews, feedback, and regular 1:1s
- ** Innovate**: Bring new ideas to automate workflows, improve recommendations, and delight our users
- ** Own the process**: Drive your work from concept to delivery — and see the results in real time
- ** Boost product quality**: Turn feedback and usage data into meaningful improvements
- ** Shape the developer experience**: Initiate projects to improve quality, delivery speed, and collaboration

**The skills, motivation, and mentality you should bring**:

- Proven experience leading engineering teams in fast-growing startups or scale-ups
- Experience as a Senior or Lead Engineer in either Backend (Python/Django) or Frontend (React/TypeScript)
- Thrives in flat hierarchies and team-driven decision-making
- Passion for personal and team growth, fostering collaboration across functions
- Comfortable balancing hands-on coding with leadership responsibilities
- Curiosity to try, evaluate, and adopt new technologies and developer tools
