Our
**Leipzig International Kindergarten**, opened in June 2014, provides over 270 children aged 1 to 6 with a full-day, year-round, early education programme, which aims at supporting each child’s personal, social, academic, physical and emotional development in an international setting.
The Kindergarten Assistant Principal for Learning Early Year reports to the Kindergarten Principal and is a member of the Kindergarten Leadership Team, which is responsible for managing the Leipzig International Kindergarten (LIK) and overseeing the children’s personal, social, academic, physical and emotional development in an international setting whilst also promoting an environment where all students feel safe, secure and valued.

**MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Concept Development & Curriculum Alignment**
- Plan and develop the LIK curriculum and approaches to learning together with Educators, Subject Educators, Assistant Principal for Learning EY, and Kindergarten Principal. Ensure alignment across LIK by maintaining presence and work with children within the overall average of 30% of total contracted time on child. Ensure curricular alignment into Primary School and with accreditation standards.
- Plan, facilitate and guide weekly Nursery Level meetings to work with the teams and ensure that planning is aligned and provides opportunities to meet the developmental and educational needs of the children.
- Together with the Kindergarten Leadership Team, plan, facilitate and guide Nursery and Whole House meetings.
- Liaise with Assistant Principal for Learning EY for curriculum alignment and transition purposes.
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of the LIK Development Plan, especially in matters related to concept, curriculum, and approaches to learning.
- Ensure that the LIK Concept and the LIK Webpages are continually up-to-date and published with accurate information about the LIK Concept and Curriculum.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the curriculums in place at LIK and at Primary School, including Saxony’s State Curriculum for Kindergarten, Early Years Foundation Stage, European Curriculum and best practice from around the world.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the best educational approaches to learning including Reggio-Emilio, Montessori and other learner-centered, play-based practices from around the world.
- Attend in-service courses to help achieve this knowledge

**Supporting Educational Staff Members**
- Maintain a regular presence in the group rooms, supporting staff as they work with students and providing cover within the overall average of 30% of contracted time on child.
- Identify and contribute to the creation, implementation and evaluation of systems, policies, routines and procedures that support colleagues in best implementing the concept and curriculum; Ensuring maximum colleague input and participation.
- Ensure that all educational staff members are provided with the motivation, supports and conditions necessary to meet conceptual and curriculum expectations.
- Maintain clear internal staff communication flows with a focus on participation, consistency, availability and transparency.
- Assume responsibility of monitoring and regulating the timetabling and preparation time systems as they are directly connected to implementation of curriculum.
- Participate in individual performance management systems at the request of the Kindergarten Principal.
- Support individual staff members as they fulfill their individual development plans.
- Propose, develop and organize continuing professional development opportunities for individuals and teams to grow their knowledge, skill and understanding of conceptual and curricular matters, particularly during in-service-training days.
- Assist the Kindergarten Principal in recruitment efforts, participation in selection and interview processes and contributing to onboarding processes.
- Inventory, manage and store all educational resources, providing staff with overviews.
- Write references and letters of recommendations in coordination with Kindergarten Principal and Human Resources.
- Represent views from colleagues in conceptual and curricular matters at Kindergarten Leadership meetings

**Supporting Students**
- Plan, implement and participate with educational staff in assemblies and plan-do-reviews within the overall average of 30% of contracted time on child.
- Remain abreast of any concerns related to the individual academic development of the children, informing the Kindergarten Principal should concerns arise. Spend time with specified children and groups within the overall average of 30% of contracted time on child.
