Head of Material Testing

Tasks Within Research and Development Tires we in Global Tire Testing provide and manage fit-for-purpose testing solutions for our customers in the most accurate, timely, efficient, and sustainable manner. We are looking for you to lead the department Material Testing and Global Tire Testing Quality. **Responsibilities of this position are**: **Material Testing**: Steering and leading R&D Material Testing departments incl. functional and disciplinary leading of >150 blue - and white-collar employees worldwide, ensuring compliance to occupational safety & environmental protection rules Strategy development & implementation Planning and controlling of budget incl. expenses and investments Ensure forecast, planning and coordination, correct execution & result reporting of all R&D material tests Ensure the initiation, prioritization, and the development of all needed test methods for material testing based on understanding of material and tire performance and requirements. Responsible for all material test specifications in tires R&D and tire plants. Ensure balancing quality, costs and duration to ensure the optimal set-up of material test methods considering the available capacity. Ensure the availability, maintenance of lab test equipment incl. IT infrastructure and systems Ensure worldwide chemical & physical material testing cross-checks for all tire manufacturing plant laboratories and R&D labs Ensure raw material supplier approval for serial tire production **Global Tire Testing Quality & Regulations**: Ensure business-based evaluation of required quality standards (internal and external standards like IATF 16949, ISO 17025 and OE Customer Specific Requirements) concerning testing equipment, testing processes, testing execution and result reporting for Global Tire Testing worldwide. Initiate, monitor and drive the implementation of required standards in Global Tire Testing worldwide Ensure that legal and label test and OE test requirements are timely implemented in testing operations Drive the continuous improvement of Global Tire Testing quality worldwide and initiation of corrective measures if necessary, including the control of their effectiveness Continuous and effective communication and steering of quality topics to relevant Test, Quality & Regulations and R&D stakeholders **R&D ESH**: Coordinate legal and corporate ESH standards in R&D Germany. Development of roadmaps to continuously improve ESH standard fulfillment in Tires R&D Germany. Drive the identification of solutions, initiate action plans and track implementation. Organize and execute regular R&D ESH exchange with responsible cost center leaders and reporting to R&D head Approval & release of tire products, technologies, material, processes, and test methods for Global Tire Testing in R&D Release Meetings **Qualifications**: Academic degree (university of applied science or higher) in engineering, natural sciences, or comparable field Several years of working experience in R&D or comparable business in department leader function Very good project management skills and several years of experience in leading complex projects in an international environment Very good analytical, communication and presentation skills Fluent English skills (written and spoken) Fluent German skills (written and spoken) Self-driven, highly motivated team player who drives innovation and has a creative mindset Social competence to develop a close relationship and a good communication with different stakeholders within R&D Tires Intercultural competencies required Experience and competence in Quality Management preferred Applications from severely handicapped people are welcome.
