Head of Sustainability Accounting Principles

Your tasks Sustainability regulations are increasing with enormous speed regarding scope and complexity. The position "Head of Sustainability Accounting Principles, Regulations & Requirements" is a newly created role at Group Sustainability in order to ensure an adequate definition of accounting requirements and principles regarding the numerous sustainability regulations. The position reports directly to the Head of Group Sustainability. The tasks of the role comprise - Definition of binding sustainability accounting principles for Continental - Official interpretation of accounting-related requirements and standards (e.g. CSRD, EU Taxonomy, GDDL, German Corporate Governance Code) - Continuous monitoring of developments in sustainability accounting and reporting standards - Ensure alignment with other relevant principles, especially financial accounting principles, as well as with relevant Group Functions, Group Sectors and external assurance providers - Preparation of relevant material for oversight by Executive Board and Supervisory Board - Coaching and training of relevant functions - Active participation in associations (e.g. econsense, DRSC, etc) and other external formats related to accounting principles - Support of the annual report process regarding sustainability statements - Outreach to regulators and standard setters as well as advocacy on existing and upcoming regulations (e.g. consultations, 1:1 meetings) - Representation of Continental in relevant formats (e.g. conferences) **Profile**: - Academic degree in relevant area - Several years of professional experience with related background (e.g. Audit, Controlling, Accounting, Reporting, Sustainability) - Experience in a comparable leading role in a matrix organization and in managing different stakeholder interests - Strong analytical capabilities and methodological skills required - Profound expertise in relevant areas, including - Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), EU Taxonomy - German Commercial Code (HGB) and Financial Accounting (esp. IFRS) - Other sustainability accounting and reporting standards (ISSB, TCFD, GHG Protocol, GRI, etc.) - Relevant Governance regulations (GDDL, CSDDD, German Corporate Governance Code, etc.) - Practical experience regarding - Assurance processes, traceability and audit trails - Risk Management and Risk Management Standards (IDW PS 981) - Controlling, Data management, corporate reporting and data analytics - General Corporate Governance - Business Fluent English and German language skills (written and spoken) - Motivation for constant learning Diversity creates value for a better tomorrow.
