Coordinator, Technical Department, Science Based

**Job Purpose and Background**

As Team Coordinator, you will join a team of highly talented experts working on the development and review of standards and other technical resources to enable the adoption and implementation of ambitious climate targets in the corporate and financial sectors.

As the SBTi is going through a rapid growth and transition phase, that includes the development of more formal internal and external processes, this position will play an important role in helping the effective and professional implementation of these processes within the Technical Department.

The position will report directly into the Chief Technical Officer and will work closely with other team leads within the Technical Department and with the SBTi Project Management Office.

**About the SBTi**:
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a global body enabling businesses to set ambitious emissions reductions targets in line with the latest climate science. It is focused on accelerating companies across the world to halve emissions before 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions before 2050.

**About the team**

The Technical Department leads the development and maintenance of the key resources within the initiative to enable the adoption of climate targets in line with the best-available science and following best-practice for standard-setting organizations.

The normative and non-normative resources developed by the Technical Department are the backbone of the SBTi target-setting framework and include, amongst others, the development of standards, criteria, recommendations, sector-specific guidance, topic-specific guidance and tools, as well as the scientific foundations that underpin all of these, including the curation of scenarios, target-setting methods, though leadership and novel research.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Organize internal team meetings; take minutes and track follow-up as necessary;
- Develop and manage a system to manage internal and external queries addressed to the SBTi technical team;
- Management of external advisory and governance bodies (e.g. Technical Advisory Group, Scientific Advisory Group, Technical Council) including annual scheduling of meetings, invitations, minute-taking and distribution, amongst others;
- Monitor the team’s multiple work-streams and ensure all aspects of a complex and ambitious program are progressing in a timely and effective manner and reported in line with internal accountability mechanisms;
- Manage shared folders and access by team members and relevant external stakeholders;
- Other tasks that are commensurate with your skills and experience may be assigned in agreement with your line manager.

**Essential skills and experience needed**:

- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field; experience in lieu of degree accepted
- A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant, full-time work experience
- Proficient organisation and project management skills
- Excellent attention to detail and experience managing or monitoring multiple projects simultaneously
- A self-starter with experience working in a loose management environment across multiple organizations
- Ability to think creatively and be flexible to changes in project scope, focus, or timeline
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly with PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
- Ability to upward manage, corralling busy people and holding them accountable to tasks
- Strong communication skills - ability to communicate complex concepts clearly, both orally and in writing, with fluency in English

**Desirable criteria**:

- Command of collaborative and project management tools, including Asana, Miro, Confluence, etc.
- Familiarity with agile and/or other project management approaches;

This is a full-time role based in Berlin. The salary for this role will be dependent on location and level of experience. This role is a fixed-term contract for 12 months with the possibility of extension and it will be reporting to the SBTi Chief Technical Officer
