The Role
As our Financial Accountant, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day accounting and related finance functions of the German office, supporting the EMEA finance team where needed, as well as providing insight and advice through reporting. You'll be responsible for the full suite of accounting and reporting functions of the entity. You'll also be responsible for ensuring that the day-to-day finance tasks are executed quickly and accurately as well as driving finance transformation and streamlining finance processes.
Tasks
**Your days will include, but not limited to**:
Ensure a high-quality accounting and reporting environment
- Prepare daily client money reconciliations
- Monitor and prepare Bundesbank license conditions related reports
- Provide insightful, detailed information through the preparation of finance board packs
- Preparation of the annual business plan and monitor its implementation
- Preparation of the year-end statutory financial accounts
- Preparation of weekly, monthly and quarterly reports to the Board and Group
- Monitor and report on capital requirements on an ongoing basis
- Monthly submission of VAT and withholding tax returns
- Understand and maintain awareness of the tax and regulatory requirements including local and EU laws, international and industry standards and best practices
- Participate in the implementation of new systems, payment providers, and other third-party outsource providers as needed
- Ensure that salaries and related taxes are paid accurately and on time

**Requirements**:
**To be successful, you will have**:
Eligibility to work in Germany (no visa sponsorship)
- Bachelor degree in Finance, Economics or similar
- 3+ years post qualification experience in the financial industry
- Strong IFRS and German GAAP accounting knowledge
- Experience in regulatory capital rules and regulatory reporting under the EU Investment Firm Regulation
- Experience in preparing and submitting financial statements
- Knowledge in withholding tax requirements and value added tax
- Experience in dealing with tax authorities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Willingness to commit to ongoing learning and development the ability to acquire new knowledge & skills quickly
- Ability to work under an agile and high-pressure environment
- Fluent in German and English
- High proficiency in Excel. SQL and power query knowledge is an advantage.
