An exciting opportunity has arisen as Head of Consenting for our UK & Nordics teams. Vattenfall already has a strong presence within the UK and Sweden and we are looking to grow our portfolio in both markets as well as within other Nordic markets. As Head of Consenting (UK & Nordics) you would report to the Head of Consenting and Stakeholder Engagement for Vattenfall offshore wind.

Vattenfall is one of Europe's offshore wind developers operating in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK. Our strategy is to reduce emissions from power generation with a road map aiming at achieving climate neutrality by 2050.

This role will require line management of an excellent group of consents and land managers, setting the team strategy in line with the overall BA Wind Strategy, and providing a clear line of sight from strategy to individual objectives, as well as providing support and guidance to ensure a high-performing team.

As a consenting team, you will provide consents advice for new project opportunities as well as strategic input into projects during the bid phase to ensure that opportunities are appropriately assessed and bid submissions are of a high quality. Once sites are secured, you will enable de-risked, timely and constructable consents and consent compliance throughout project lifecycles. You will help shape development in our markets, representing Vattenfall on relevant industry groups, delivering consents input into industry consultations and other fora, bringing forward our position as experienced and forward thinking developers. Increasingly, you will develop consenting / technical understanding of new integrated systems relevant to the UK and Nordic markets, eg Power to X.

This is a challenging role and you will have the support of the wider UK and European consents team alongside our Environmental and Technical experts. Supportive leadership and a creative approach to problem solving and strategy are essential for this role.

What will you do?
As Head of Consenting, UK & Nordics, you will manage our UK and Swedish consenting teams with the aim of providing support to our projects throughout their life cycles, ie from bid to decommissioning. Specifically you will:

- Line manage our existing team of consents and land managers in the UK and Sweden, ensuring they have the support and guidance to deliver in their respective projects;
- Manage consents resource to support projects in all phases from bid through to operation / decommissioning. This will include working with Project Managers to identify resource needs or constraints and assisting with the recruitment of permanent and contract staff as required;
- Provide expert input into bid or acquisition projects, undertaking due diligence and reviews of opportunities and risks across the UK and Nordic markets;
- Support ongoing projects with strategic guidance and advice on consenting issues as well as providing ad-hoc consents resource where needed;
- Represent Vattenfall in Industry groups, working with colleagues including Public & Regulatory Affairs to ensure consistency of external messaging on matters relating to consents;
- Deliver, with the support of colleagues, responses to industry consultation on relevant consenting matters.

Location
It is preferred that the role will be based in the UK (London, Hexham) or Sweden (Solna) however other locations will be considered (Kolding, Amsterdam, Hamburg). Travel to sites and occasional international travel will also be required.

**Profile**:
Who are you?
You bring a university degree background in a relevant field such as environmental sciences. Furthermore:

- A track record of leading offshore wind consenting during development or construction;
- Experience of line management is desirable but not essential; demonstrable experience of leading teams is required;
- Excellent knowledge of offshore wind development processes in either the UK or Sweden and the ability to guide, advise and support colleagues throughout this process;
- Experience of working with stakeholders in resolve consenting issues either in the UK or Sweden (or other core markets);
- Ability to transfer knowledge to emerging offshore wind markets.
