About the Role:
The Scientific Editor will join the editorial team of Structure, handling a broad spectrum of life science research articles and stay connected to a broad range of scientific topics.

The core responsibilities of this position include:

- Working closely with the Editor-in-Chief and editorial team to manage content and to shape and develop the journal.
- Recruiting exciting research studies and reviews.
- Assessing submitted research papers and making editorial recommendations, and overseeing the peer review process.
- Work with authors and reviewers to publish exciting science across a range of topic areas.
- Engaging the scientific community in their labs and at conferences to learn about scientific developments and establish relationships, representing _Structure _and Cell Press at scientific meetings and visits to research institutions.
- Build strong relationships with Cell Press journals on content and collaborative projects.
- Contributing to broader Cell Press initiatives.

**Requirements**:

- A PhD degree in any area of structural biology or in a relevant discipline with experience in publishing original scientific research.
- Possess broad scientific interests, love of science, and desire to learn. As an editor, you will need to understand the diverse science covered by _Structure, _and you will need to appreciate the issues and questions that drive different fields.
- Strong time management and organizational skills. Ability to organize, prioritize, and focus.
- Have great interpersonal skills. Collaboration and networking are core aspects of the job.
- Possess critical thinking skills and the willingness to learn and absorb new areas of scientific research.
- The ability to work well in a team.
- Creativity, willingness to experiment, and desire to improve.
- Possess interest in digital communication and publishing trends.
- Interest in engaging with the scientific community.
- A talent for clear communication. Good editors help authors make their message clear, concise, and compelling, so readers know why the science is important and how it will impact their work.
