Police Officer

**Duties**:

- The Desk Sergeant is the initial point of contact for complaints, inquiries, information and making personal notification in accordance with established emergency notification procedures.
- Interpret, ensure compliance, and provide guidance to subordinates as it relates to current federal, host nation, local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.
- Act as the point of contact in police and fire emergency situations, followed by the Supervisory Police Officer.
- Conduct training for new employees; familiarize with, patrol areas, and nature codes use for dispatch purposes; cross-train personnel for police, fire and EMS, call taking and desk sergeant operations.
- Conduct Guard mount with the force to ensure the oncoming shift is aware of ongoing law enforcement matters.
- Responsible for the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the Intrusion Detection System located in the ECC during their designated shift.
- Demonstrate knowledge of law enforcement duties including report writing, crime scene security, force protection measures, community policing and crime prevention measures.
- Receive, screen, and act on all calls and complaints, including emergency calls.

- Must pass the initial and annual Physical Agility Test comprised of 1.5 miles (2.41 km) run in 17:30 minutes and execute 19 push-ups in 2 minutes.

- Must obtain a medical clearance before permission is granted to take the physical agility test. Meet manual dexterity, vision, and hearing tests; pass the annual PAT, pass a periodic medical examination.
- Graduate and successfully complete the Civilian Police Academy program instruction within one year of employment. Work may involve lifting and carrying heavy objects of up to 50 pounds.
- Must qualify/remain qualified for the Individual Reliability Program (IRP). Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
- Must sign DA Form 5019 and pass drug testing. Must wear the DACP/SG uniform and maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene; must be able to wear chemical protection equipment in accordance with AR 50-6.
- Must pass a medical examination and receive required immunizations for the overseas/deployed location. Prior to appointment to the position, employee will sign a statement agreeing to the E-E condition of employment.
- Position is designated Emergency Essential (E-E) in support of mobilization and wartime mission. Employee will be required to remain in the overseas position in the event of hostilities or mobilization until relieved by proper authority.
- Must possess a valid U.S. motor vehicle license and able to obtain and maintain a USAREUR/TMP driver's license.
- Must complete required use of force training, authority and jurisdiction training. Requires certification in the use of radar detection equipment and alcohol detection equipment.
- Must meet Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
- Must pass quarterly weapons qualification. Meet annual training and re-certification. May be exposed to inclement weather while working both inside and outside.
- Must complete initial/annual CPR recertification and first aid. Must successfully be qualified on breathalyzer and NCIC terminal operator within 12 months of employment.
- Must be able to work shifts, overtime, weekends as required. Call back and emergency overtime are regular requirements of this position. Requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

**Specialized Experience**: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Collecting and preserving evidence, conducting investigations on criminal cases, and/or analyzing facts to identify suspects; AND (2) Reporting critical information to emergency services and dispatching support personnel based on specific incidents; AND (3) Developing criminal case information and reports for judicial authorities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
