Director of Engineering, Infrastructure

**What to expect?**:
As a Director of Engineering, Infrastructure at Contentful, you are responsible for advancing and maintaining a healthy engineering management team, ensuring that we're building great engineering teams that provide solutions and reliably execute on a streamlined and transparent delivery process.

Our Infrastructure group improves existing capabilities and innovates on what's next for the cloud-native, AWS infrastructure layer of our enterprise-ready, highly scalable, reliable, and compliant content platform. This group also owns the build, test, and deployment infrastructure to provide the best possible experience for all Contentful engineers.

In close collaboration with the VP of Engineering, Group Product Managers and fellow Directors of Engineering you will be advancing improvement in our engineering management practices and our development processes. You'll guide strategic technology choices and ensure consistent delivery of value to our customers. Here's what you'll do:

- Nurture, coordinate and evolve our outstanding engineering management team
- Develop and recruit diverse and strong engineering managers
- Grow a culture of value delivery through software projects
- Maintain and iterate on the Engineering and Product partnership
- Raise capabilities in the engineering management and the engineering team
- Maintain relationships and transparency with key stakeholders (Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Support)
- Participate in discussions of Product and Company strategy and align the Engineering Team

**What you need to be successful**:

- Proven experience managing managers of technical teams, setting goals and crafting plans to achieve them
- Provide managerial and technical strategy guidance to the team, both individually and as a group
- Experience in troubleshooting the software delivery process, particularly the collaboration with product and continuously streamlining it
- You are used to collaborating with other functions of a company like Product, Support and Marketing
- You have expertise in recruiting and hiring engineering talent and will facilitate the onboarding of new team members
- Excellent English communication skills, verbal and written (German not required)

**Preferred**:

- Experience leading Infrastructure teams working in Cloud Environments
- Experience leading teams responsible for building high load, highly available, scalable systems.
