We are changing this for you here. This job post is intentionally different. Because

Tasks

We are looking for a personality to become a venture investor with us

We believe that past experience is a null-determinant for success as a VC. We have seen friends and colleagues become great at venture investing coming from all walks of life prior. And we have seen VC investors come from the exact same backgrounds and never be any good at it.

Our learning over time is the only determinant whether you can become great as a VC is your personality.

The core reason is that we found VC to be a craft. Like playing the guitar, like songwriting, and like carpentry. There is strong methods and repetition that can help you become good, but how you move your fingers and vocal chords uniquely makes all the difference in you putting out a world-defining song.

Being great as a venture investor is the same. It’s your craft.

(Very few of the world’s most accomplished singer-songwriters and guitarists went through a top-tier music school, while many alums of those schools never make anywhere on stage; that past life is a zero-determinant for that craft)

That’s why we are intentionally not giving you a list of generic bullets here - as in “check these bullets”. They don’t define you as a personality, and they won’t define if you end up becoming a great venture investor - with us or anywhere.

What get we excited by is your unique combination of craft-defining traits.

Our process is designed to gauge your craft-defining traits

**When you click apply, we will ask you for 3 things**:
**1. Referral**: We ask you to find one person that is connected to you and to us (i.e. we know them personally ) to reach out to someone in our team on your behalf and tell us why we should hire you.

**2. Real deals**: We ask you to mention 2 live deals in our investment scope you think we are idiots for not considering.

**3. Reflection**: We ask you 5 ambiguous questions and want to hear your personality come out in your responses.

Do you invest?

If you want to learn more about us - the Internet is full of us. We’ll leave it to you to research us if you are truly interested.

We know all this is effort, but it’s the only process to demonstrate us some of your craft-defining traits and personality. We are making no promises. We are only hiring one person right now.

So if you prefer to have less effort, or you prefer a clearer way to compute your chances, then perhaps the “one job ad like the other” is more your game.
