We, at Merantix alongside our strong LP network, aim to leverage our extensive tech ecosystem, our expertise in implementing AI solutions within corporations and our AI venture building skills to make European SMEs more competitive. For this we identify companies that, through the implementation of AI, will attain a new competitive edge and can unleash the value of their products, services and IP. You would lead this innovation-driven approach and have the opportunity to head a team of experts in identifying targets of interest and evaluating their AI-focused value creation.

What do we do at Merantix?
Merantix is the world’s first AI venture studio. Since 2016, we have incubated seven category-leading companies in different verticals - all of them with AI at the core of their business. Over the past years, we have tweaked, adjusted and improved our ideation and validation processes of building AI ventures to de-risk, accelerate time to market and to ultimately build unicorn companies. The secret sauce of our venture studio is the extensive ecosystem we have established in the realm of tech and AI. Through our AI solutions provider, Merantix Momentum, we have established close ties to DACH SMEs and industry which helps us in identifying customer pain points, AI use cases, and product-market fit. Being a founding member of the national AI association puts us in the information loop of new regulatory developments in the EU. Working from the AI Campus in the heart of Berlin, we connect startups, scaleups, investors, enterprises and governmental departments - all of them aligned in the goal of digitizing Europe.

Your role

We are looking for stand-out individuals that are driven and hungry to identify target companies to acquire, optimize, and exit them. You will analyze the case's feasibility from a financial, commercial, legal and technical perspective to, then, pitch the target to our IC and lead the execution of the deal.

If that resonates with you, here is how your deal-making path at Merantix looks like:

- Identify target companies and provide initial investment review
- Determine significant AI value creation levers in these targets
- Conceptualize (in collaboration with our experts) AI solutions and their implementation along with the resulting P&L implications
- Pitch investment recommendations to the firm’s IC
- Participate in negotiations on behalf of the firm for new investments dealing with partnership arrangements, financing arrangements, and other project contacts which impact the project return
- Lead the acquisition, execution and exit process of a deal
- Establish and maintain relationship with industry, trade and professional organizations to enhance visibility of the firm and its portfolio companies in the marketplace

We define ourselves by a culture of ownership and teamwork. We’re looking for a driven, capable, visionary, and thoughtful person with a proven track record of personal, academic, and professional achievement:

- Solid professional experience and expertise in Private Equity (3+ years)
- Extensive financial modeling skills including sensitivity analysis to support potential investment hypotheses
- A Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree of a top university
- You have been part of a deal team that acquired, optimized, and exited a company successfully
- Strong business sense that is based on analytical thinking skills
- You have a good understanding of the SME landscape in the DACH region
- Good understanding of machine learning technology is a plus. No coding knowledge required, but an understanding of ML models and how they can be applied in a business context is preferred
- You are fluent in German
