As a Barclays Banking Lawyer, you’ll sit in the German Legal Team in Frankfurt/Germany reporting to the Director covering Banking. Your main coverage responsibilities will be DCM (Debt Capital Markets) and ECM (Equity Capital Markets) and the lawyer will support daily the Legal team and German IB business desks as well as respond to queries from other infrastructure functions. You’ll provide legal support, legal and reputational risk management, and transaction management/ execution support for the German IB business.

**What will you be doing?**:
- Working with Banking business units and other infrastructure areas (eg, including Compliance, Financial Crime, Credit, Audit and, of course, other Legal teams)
- Drafting, amending and/or reviewing and advising on pre-transactional and contractual documents
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating transactional documentation with a focus on capital markets transactions such as DCM, ECM and possibly PCM (private capital markets)
- Advising the business ahead of upcoming transactions of any legal questions in relation to preparing and executing the transaction
- Being able to also comprise some exposure to governance and regulatory questions relating to Barclays Europe’s branches in Amsterdam, Stockholm and the Zürich branch
- Instructing and managing external counsel by summarizing the scope of the transaction and the expected work and negotiating fee quotes where necessary
- Being able to follow legal and regulatory developments, deliver training and education to the German businesses and infrastructure teams on topical issues, legal risks and regulatory
- Demonstrating knowledge of legal risk in German businesses; identifying, analyzing, communicating and escalating risk and control issues appropriately in the German businesses
**What we’re looking for**:
- German law qualified lawyer with a PQE and fully fluent in German and English
- Top-tier capital markets private practice or in-house capital markets background and familiarity with DCM and ECM transactions
- In-depth knowledge of and expertise on regulatory framework (e.g. MiFID, MiFIR, prospectus regulations, German regulatory laws
