**What you will do**

The focus of this doctoral thesis is the design, analysis, optimization and characterization of integrated millimeter wave and submillimeter wave circuits, motivated by new system and integration concepts in the field of THz radar sensors and 6G communication. One aspect of the work can be the design of multi-antenna systems for the implementation and demonstration of MIMO and/or beam steering (phased array) solutions.

The goal is the realization of a system-oriented circuit design. Complex circuits are to be developed by integrating functional assemblies such as low-noise amplifiers, multipliers and mixers that have intelligent control options and system interfaces. In particular, the aspects of the system design and the calibration or comparison of the front-end properties are in focus.

**What you bring to the table**
- You have successfully completed a university degree (diploma/master's degree) in the fields of electrical engineering, microsystems technology, communications engineering or a comparable field.
- You have initial experience in the field of HF circuit design and ideally also in HF antenna design and HF measurement technology.#
- Ideally, you already have knowledge of how to use circuit simulation and 3D field simulation programs such as e.g. Keysight Advanced Design System (ADS), CST Microwave Studio and Cadence Virtuoso.
- You have the ability to quickly familiarize yourself with new problems and an independent scientific way of working.
- Business fluent German and English skills, teamwork and communication skills and enjoyment of experimental work round off your profile.

The weekly working time is 39 hours. The position is initially limited to 3 years. Appointment, remuneration and social security benefits based on the public-sector collective wage agreement (TVöD). Additionally Fraunhofer may grant performance-based variable remuneration components.
