Brand Protection Counsel

Abion, an international IP powerhouse with bold ambitions, is looking for a Brand Protection Counsel to lead and strengthen our Brand Protection team, ideally based in either our Rome or Malta office.

This is a unique opportunity to manage a dynamic group of professionals, providing top-tier legal support to a wide range of clients in the fast-moving world of domain name enforcement and disputes.

**What You’ll Do**

As a lawyer and team leader in our Domain Disputes team, you’ll play a central role in handling complex cases of online IP infringement—particularly around domain names—while also driving growth and engagement within the team.

**Key Responsibilities**
- **Team Management**: Manage daily operations by effectively delegating tasks, overseeing workloads, and ensuring that team objectives and targets are met in a timely manner. Conduct recurring team meetings.
- **Leadership**: Provide mentorship, motivation and guidance to team members, fostering a supportive environment that encourages professional growth and collaboration.
- **Legal Consultancy**: Provide expert advice on online brand protection, with a strong focus on domain enforcement
- **Drafting**: Prepare legal documents including C&D letters, UDRP/URS complaints, DMCA notices, and settlement agreements
- **Case Management**: Handle filings and maintain up-to-date case records in our internal systems
- **Client Communication**: Act as the main point of contact for clients, managing ongoing updates and reports
- **Cross-Functional Collaboration**: Work closely with Brand Protection colleagues, IT & Security, and Customer Support to ensure a seamless client experience
- **Execution & Initiative**: Deliver high-quality results and contribute ideas for ongoing improvement based on trends and insights

**Who You Are**
- Law degree with at least 5 years of experience in a law firm or in-house role
- Strong legal and business English (other languages are a plus)
- Excellent research and digital analysis skills
- Detail-oriented, structured, and able to juggle multiple priorities
- Skilled communicator with a passion for team leadership and operational excellence Results-driven, proactive, and eager to shape and scale legal processes

This position is offered as a one-year maternity cover, with the potential for a permanent appointment.
