- and project-based peer learning environment. 42 Wolfsburg / Berlin e. V. is based on the internationally renowned concept of Ecole 42 founded in Paris in 2013 and now trains 10'000 students at more than 40 schools around the globe. At 42 we set out to educate future software engineers to build the digital infrastructure of our society. We aim to build a vibrant learning community for students and employees. We strive to think and act like a startup but have the strategic support from industry partners and the successful brand, content and infrastructure of the global 42 network.
Tasks
As Head of FabLab and Engineering Projects at 42, you will be an entrepreneurial role model for all our students regarding topics such as IoT, robotics, microcontrollers, embedded systems, future mobility and other DIY topics in general. While supporting our students and external members hands-on and ensuring a working prototyping infrastructure, you will also design the strategic development and impact of the Labs. You will be part of a dynamic forward-thinking team. Your primary location will be the FabLab at 42 Wolfsburg, but your innovations and strategies will also be implemented at 42 Berlin.
- Innovation, research and education at the frontier of mobility, cyber-physical systems and digital health
- Drive innovative projects on the interface between technology, art and culture that can represent 42 Wolfsburg / Berlin at events, conferences, and festivals
- Develop new educational formats for the FabLabs in Wolfsburg and Berlin
- Build-up of a motivated community of students and locals
- Onboarding and coaching FabLab members
- Manage the FabLabs and its members (procurement roadmap, requests, instructions, defining machinery owners, bookings, etc.)
**Requirements**:
- Proficiency in a programming language like C, C++, Java
- Experience with scripting, e.g. python
- Experience with microcontrollers and embedded systems like ROS, Arduino
- Technical experience in making things: 3D printing (SLA / FDM), laser cutting, etc.
- “Hacker mindset” - nothing is impossible to make
- P2P Educational experience, e.g. in the FabLab community or a 42 school
- Communication, organizational and social skills to manage FabLab members, supplies, bookings, events, etc.
- In-depth knowledge in at least one of the following areas: Automotive & Mobility, AI/ML, Mechatronics/CPS/IoT, Digital Health, InfoSec, industrial automation
