YouTrack is an issue tracker and Agile project management tool. Primarily designed for developer teams, it wraps up sophisticated features into a simple and friendly UI.

As part of our team, you will:

- Design interfaces for hundreds of thousands of users.
- Help make product decisions. We listen to our customers and use YouTrack ourselves, so we know first-hand what needs to be done and how.

We’ll be happy to have you on our team if you:

- Are attentive to detail.
- Are comfortable with working independently.
- Have at least three years of experience in UI design.
- Tackle various software use cases.
- Know how to write good interface documentation.
- Can rationalize your suggestions for changing the existing interface and are able to accept constructive criticism.
- Can think of different solutions to a given problem.
- Look for things that can be improved even when the job is done.

We’ll be especially thrilled if you:

- Are familiar with HTML, CSS, or JavaScript.
- Enjoy mastering new tools and approaches.

We probably will not be on the same page if you:

- Specialize only in graphic design such as business card websites, logos, or corporate identities.
- Don’t mind taking a side gig.
- Don’t share work-in-progress designs.

How YouTrack UI is built:

- YouTrack consists of several parts: tasks, reports, agile boards, dashboards, and the admin panel.
- All pages are arranged according to a single layout grid. We use design components from our library.
- All interface functionality is operable through a keyboard.

How we work:

- We use Sketch to draw mockups and Zeplin to get them into development.
- As we use our own library of design components tied to code, most of the designers' work is about interaction design.
- We do not use any version control systems for design at the moment, but this may change.
- With our users and teammates, we mostly communicate in English.
- At JetBrains, we work flexible hours. However, we expect our colleagues to finish their tasks on time and be there for daily stand-ups that take place in the middle of the day.
- We are pragmatic about our processes and rather squeamish about bureaucracy.
