**Job Highlights**:

- Be responsible for the development and implementation of the global purchasing strategies for raw materials and packaging of LANXESS
- Lead a team of ~55 strategic buyers who are responsible for individual LANXESS Business Units or purchasing categories
- Generate competitive advantages for LANXESS by exploring relevant alternatives, decreasing risk and driving innovation in cooperation with LANXESS Business Units
- Supervise and lead RFPs / RFQs, bid analyses and contract negotiations with national and international key suppliers
- Create and foster effective and sustainable supplier relationships and exchange actively with industry initiatives, including on sustainability
- Develop global market benchmarks and trend analyses for the relevant categories and derive adequate measures to secure a cost competitive supply for LANXESS in a dynamic market environment
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization, quality and delivery improvements

**Requirements**:

- Business or technical/science university degree or equivalent with good knowledge of chemical market and production processes
- Profound procurement experience including strategy development and supplier relationship management or equivalent professional experience
- Commitment to drive the LANXESS sustainability initiatives
- Excellent people management skills in an international environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with the proven ability to successfully interact with internal and external stakeholders on all levels
- Entrepreneurial and flexible mindset with exceptional analytical and problem solving skills
- Fluent German and English language skills are required

The Head of Direct Materials (f/m/d) reports to the CPO of the LANXESS group who is a direct report of the Board of Management
