Research Associate (all genders) Molecular Cloning

Full-time and permanent

The Molecular Biology group is seeking a motivated Research Associate (all genders) with expertise in Genomic Engineering and Cloning. The position will provide bench support for cloning workflows and collaborate with scientists to revolutionize drug discovery. This role requires creativity, pragmatism, and proficiency in software and automation technology. Strong organization, communication, and teamwork skills are essential in this fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities:

- Plan and execute various complex cloning projects in the lab and deliver high quality constructs
- Collaborate with scientists and project managers to develop workflows a variety of cloning projects and pipelines
- Provide theoretical and practical cloning and genome engineering expertise to internal and external collaboration partners
- Identify and implement QC checks to continuously improve cloning workflows
- Communicate results and key performance indicators (KPIs) via Electronic Notebook ELN and oral presentations; ensure thorough documentation of constructs in the database
- Independently troubleshoot and find solutions for cloning roadblocks or bottlenecks

Required skills:

- Strong hands-on expertise in a variety of cloning technologies (Gibson Assembly, GoldenGate, ELAN, LIC, RedET recombineering, conventional cloning)
- Understanding of genome engineering, cloning processes and downstream workflows including but not limited to virus generation, pooled screening and cellular assays
- Strong expertise in handling of nucleic acids
- Exceptional organization skills
- Experience with multitask project management
- Excellent communications skills and ability to work with a diverse interdisciplinary team

Your ideal qualifications:

- PhD in Molecular Biology, or a related discipline or MS with at least 5 years of relevant expertise in an industrial environment
- Hands-on experience in a (preferentially industrial) molecular biology lab performing various cloning projects using complex designs is required
- Enthusiasm for science and willingness to adapt to the changing needs of a fast-paced research and development effort
- Adaptive and a quick learner, efficient in multi-tasking and trouble-shooting
- A strong self-starter, results oriented with a strong attention to detail
