You should be interested in modeling and optimization. Previous experience with Dymola/Modelica, as well as Python is useful, but no prerequisite. **Your Duties and Responsibilities**: The increased use of renewable energy, like wind and solar energy, leads to increasingly volatile electricity price profiles. Against this background, the Kopernikus project "SynErgie" investigates measures to adapt the industrial electricity demand accordingly. As a part of "SynErgie", the project "FlexASU" deals with the flexible operation of air separation units, which consume large amounts of electricity to separate air via cryogenic distillation into its components. In particular, the concept of nonlinear model predictive control is applied. We are looking for a student assistant who supports the modeling of air separation units of different types and is interested in dynamic optimization. **What We Offer**: The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term of initially 12 months. This is a part-time contract position. The standard weekly hours will be 8-10 hours. The salary is based on the RWTH Guidelines for Student and Graduate Assistants.
