At the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Faculty of Theology, Center for Empowerment Studies CES

(Christian Empowerment in Secularity), Research Group KÖW (Church and Congregational Theory

following position, starting at the earliest opportunity:
Academic employee - doctoral or postdoctoral researcher (f-m-d)

The position will be part-time (50%) and for the duration of three years.

Remuneration is paid up to pay group 13 TV-L, depending on the assignment of duties and fulfilment of

personal requirements.

**Tasks**:

- Your own research project: Conception and realisation of your own research project in the field of ecclesi
- ology and congregational studies from an international and ecumenical perspective. An academic qualifi
- cation (doctorate) is possible. The research project should preferably be conducted with qualitative empiri
- cal methods and can, for example, relate to one of the following topics:

- Intercultural church congregations in Germany: Challenges and success factors
- Practices of discrimination and how they are dealt with in church and congregations
- Practices and effects of knowledge transfer between academic theology and church practice
- Conceptual work on basic and applied questions of church and congregational theory in an international

and ecumenical perspective
- Research and knowledge transfer between academic work and church practice (through oral presentations

and written contributions; contributions to i.e. training courses, impulse days, monitoring of church devel
- opment processes)
- Participation in joint tasks of the research centre, e.g. the preparation and implementation of conferences
- Participation in research colloquia and other forms of academic exchange

**Requirements**:

- A university degree in theology or a social science** **discipline with a grade of at least ‘good’ (church exami
- nation, state examination, Master's degree or comparable qualification)
- Very good skills in academic work, that can be shown by the quality of the final thesis, existing publications

or the outline of a research project
- Very good knowledge in at least one of the following areas:

- Church and congregational theories and/or church and congregational development
- Qualitative/reconstructive empirical research in social science or religious research
- Interculturality, migration, diversity, post-colonialism
- Very good communication skills for knowledge transfer and interdisciplinary exchange in German and/or

English; if English is your preferred language, at least some German language skills and the willingness to

further learn German are required
- Curiosity and ability to work in a team
