**Your future plans**
The Automated Trading desk is the central commercial hub at RWE Supply & Trading GmbH (RWEST) for all continental European intraday activities in power markets. Additionally, a large and continuously expanding portfolio of systematic strategies in spot markets is managed by the traders. Being a pioneer in algorithmic trading, the desk runs a holistic and complex algorithmic framework that trades end-to-end RWE’s flexible hydro and thermal assets plus batteries, outages, the sharply increasing renewables exposure as well as third party flow.

Taking full commercial and discretionary ownership, the traders of the Automated Trading desk constantly explore new trading opportunities across various countries and markets while also challenging, refining, and further developing the current algorithmic and systematic portfolio. As dedicated experts in short term trading and optimisation, the traders actively take part in various projects in the course of RWE’s growth story such as economic evaluations of potential investment decisions or in-depth market studies. Consequently, the Automated Trading desk plays a key role in paving the way for RWE’s ambitious goals in energy transition and digitalisation.

Interview Algorithmic Trading
- You will work on Europe’s largest energy trading floor together with four traders of a top tier algorithmic power trading desk in Europe:

- Taking daily commercial ownership of RWEST’s algorithmic intraday portfolio and systematic trading business in the spot tenor across European power markets
- Exploring, developing, and challenging trading strategies with state-of-the-art technology and, thus, facilitating the improvement and expansion of the desk’s area of responsibility
- Identifying and building optimal solutions to extract maximal value from RWE’s flexible asset fleet in highly volatile markets, both liquid and illiquid ones
- Managing large positions of such as outages or sudden updates in renewable production while constantly pursuing the target striving to outperform the market
- Driving new market entries as well as new product implementations with internal and external stakeholders such as power exchanges

**Your powerful skills**
- Academic background in business administration, economics, maths, date science or similar
- Strong commercial and analytical mindset in a fast paced trading environment
- Diverse conceptional and statistical skill set, experience in backtest analysis for trading strategies
- Ability to understand complex issues quickly and to turn ideas into solid commercial actions
- Profound entrepreneurial spirit and structural thinking to explore new business opportunities
- Pragmatic decision making for the sake of value generation
- Communication skills to narrow complex topics down to the most relevant points
- Confidence in negotiations and discussions with both internal and external stakeholders as well as among the traders
- Excellent team player across locations, trading desks and support teams
- Skills in SQL, R and/or Python
- Fluent language skills in English

**Advantageous, but not a must**
- Advanced language skills in German
- Hands-on prototyping experience
- First experience in Tableau
