**Medical-Technical Laboratory Assistant, Medical-Technical Assistant, Chemical-Technical Assistant or Biological-Technical Assistant**
(Salary according til TV-L E9a TV-L, 50 %)

to be filled for an unlimited period.

The research group for perinatal neurobiology headed by Prof. Dr. Axel Heep works in molecular biology-oriented research in the field of (early) infant neurobiology: little is known about how premature birth affects the functional development of the brain. However, preterm infants are at high risk for later developmental needs. Our group focuses on the questions:

- what mediates the risk to develope neonatal brain injury?
- can we develop ways to interrupt signalling?
- what are the long-term consequences?
- how can we study molecular details of perinatal brain injury?

Tasks include:
Research focus is in particular the establishment and further development of analytical methods for DNA methylation and regulation by miRNAs.
- Collaboration in the purification of RNA, DNA and proteins from patient material, animal tissue and cell cultures. histological studies such as antibody staining and cell culture
- Assistance in the performance and evaluation of molecular biological and epigenetic analyses of patient material (blood, tissue), animal tissue and cell cultures
- Preparation, staining and examination of tissue sections
- Laboratory support and organizational tasks

Here in particular:

- Support in quality management in the laboratory
- Research laboratory administration
- Instruction of new employees/students
- Procurement and ordering
- laboratory workflow planning
- sample management

Recruitment requirements:

- The prerequisite for employment is a completed vocational training as a medical-technical laboratory assistant (MTLA), a completed vocational training as a biological-technical assistant / chemical-technical assistant or a completed vocational training as a biology laboratory assistant / chemical laboratory assistant with final examination or other specializations.
- Several years of professional experience, a confident handling of computers and technical laboratory equipment, as well as a good command of English are required.
- Proven experience in handling animal experimental models as well as S1 + S2 laboratory activities
