We seek to fill the following position:
**Associate Media and External Communications - Centre for International Security (f/m/div)**

on a full-time (40 hours per week) basis, part-time also possible.

The Centre for International Security at the Hertie School is a research institution that seeks to infrom the study and debate of the complex 21st-century security challenges facing Germany, Europe, and the world. We strive to reach a global audience interested in German and European security issues, connect scientists with policymakers and civil society groups, inspire new minds in the field of security and prepare and influence the next generation of creative and innovative decision-makers.

Your tasks:

- Our Centre needs a new media and communication strategy and you will be developing and implementing it. We are looking for a creative self-starter with a passion for social media, engagement data analytics and, of course, international security. We hope you will come up with new formats and ideas for our social media channels, rethink our outreach to more traditional media outlets and journalists, revamp our Centre podcast, and create new content for our website
- You will be in charge of all our social media accounts and work with a small team on content creation. This also includes the drafting of news items about the people, research and events at the Centre. You will also edit op-eds and other content items for the website as well as non-digital Centre reports and publications
- Lastly, you will supervise the drafting process of our monthly newsletter and manage our communications database. We also expect you to be knowledgable in analyzing our external engagement data and improve our communication strategy accordingly

All above listed tasks will be carried out in coordination with the Centre Director and Manager and in close cooperation with the Hertie School’s communication department.

Your profile:

- Bachelor’s or Master’s in communications, marketing, journalism or related field
- Experience with social media (Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin), website, podcasts, engagement analytics, and database maintenance
- Familiarity with contemporary debates in international security
- Good organisational skills and ability to work independently
- Excellent oral and written English communication skills near native speaker level, German language skills are a plus
