Master Thesis: »Automated Process Optimization through Industry 4.0 Simulation«

The »« department develops technologies and application-oriented solutions for cutting along the entire process chain - from process design and pre-process simulation to real-time data acquisition during production, consulting, and prototype manufacturing. The employees conduct research in many innovative topics, such as artificial intelligence, data-based quality prediction or even ecological life cycle assessment. Optimizing manufacturing processes for turbomachines especially aeroengine components are major focus area of the department. Previous research has shown that process planning has a high potential for automated optimization. Building upon this, you will advance our optimization pipeline and evaluate different optimization algorithms/strategies. What you will do Create an interface between CAM and process simulation platforms to accelerate process optimization Exploring different strategies for toolpath optimization Data processing, analysis and visualization Preparation and documentation of results What you bring to the table You are studying mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, computer science or a comparable subject You have good knowledge of Python You have basic knowledge of the theory of machining Experience in CAD/CAM software like Rhino or Siemens NX is a big plus Good language skills in German and/or English What you can expect Professional supervision and collaboration in a dedicated team You become part of the team from the very beginning, can contribute your ideas and take on tasks on your own responsibility A state-of-the-art machine park equipped with edge cloud systems and 5G infrastructure Flexible working to combine study and job in the best possible way We value and promote the diversity of our employees' skills and therefore welcome all applications - regardless of age, gender, nationality, ethnic and social origin, religion, ideology, disability, sexual orientation and identity.
