As an Engineering Manager at VGW, you'll lead a team developing and maintaining a high-performance, distributed platform designed to handle large-scale traffic. This role offers the chance to solve complex challenges and make a significant impact in a dynamic environment. We have a library of books and videos with good content and encourage staying on top of new practices.  In terms of our tech stack, we host our docker containerized apps on AWS in EKS Kubernetes. In the containers, we run Kotlin on the JVM. TypeScript runs our client side where it’s mostly React. Our databases is DynamoDB with Snowflake as our Data warehouse.  Role requirements: Extensive experience in engineering, including leadership roles such as Engineering Manager; A proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams; Technical knowledge and experience in designing and implementing robust application architectures and scalable distributed system designs; Solid experience in AWS Cloud and strong understanding of modern infrastructure technologies, particularly Kubernetes; Empathy and a commitment to mentoring, guiding, and supporting your team’s growth and career development; Strong communication skills, with the ability to balance people, vendors and stakeholders effectively; A product-focused mindset paired with excellent stakeholder management skills. Role responsibilities: This role involves overseeing the Platform Backend team and collaborating closely with SRE and Infrastructure/DevOps Engineers, who are not direct reports; Ensure the platform’s stability, performance, and resilience under heavy transactional load; Oversee design and scaling of high-throughput backend systems; Guide technical decisions, review solutions, maintain best practices to ensure smooth collaboration across multiple locations; Stay hands-on and up to date with technologies (AWS Cloud, Kubernetes, Java); Grow and coach the team, fostering strong engineering practices around cloud, microservices, and distributed systems; Experience managing a Platform or DevOps team - will be a big advantage.  About VGW VGW is an interactive entertainment company, harnessing technology and creativity to deliver world-class, free-to-play online social games.
