Postdoctoral Researcher (gn*) Life Sciences Limited to 2 years (with possibility of extension) | Full-time with 38,5 hours | Salary according to salary group 13 TV-L | European Institute for Molecular Imaging | Job ID: 11662 We are UKM. We have a clear social mission and, with our focus on healthcare, research, and teaching, we bear a unique responsibility. To meet our high standards every day, we are looking forward to your scientific expertise in the Sánchez Lab at the European Institute for Molecular Imaging. Here, we are interested in how receptors sense the environment and respond by generating selective responses - ideally with you on board We will focus on an undervalued receptor family: plexins. These receptors are involved in neuronal development, but also in shaping the cardiovascular, musculoskeletal systems and kidneys. Further, plexins regulate immune responses and cancer, becoming an attractive drug target. The position is funded by an Emmy Noether DFG grant and aims to combine single-molecule localisation methods and cell biology to decipher the stoichiometry and dynamics of plexin receptors in living cells, the role of ligand binding, and ligand-independent mechanosensing. The European Institute for Molecular Imaging (EIMI) is an interdisciplinary institute at the University of Münster developing imaging methods that allow visualising molecular processes inside organisms, tissues, and cells. With the help of imaging, we perform cutting-edge research in vascular, inflammatory, infectious, neurodegenerative diseases and cancer. The EIMI is located at the Multiscale Imaging Centre (MIC), which hosts research groups from our university, combining a broad range of state-of-the-art imaging technologies for the investigation of biomedical questions. RESPONSIBILITIES You will generate fusion constructs of plexin receptors with fluorescent proteins or tags for advanced microscopy. You will perform live-cell imaging experiments and analyse data. You will collaborate with other members of the team in advance microscopy and super-resolution techniques. You will develop leadership skills and supervise students. REQUIREMENTS: PhD degree in life sciences (completed no longer than 2 years ago) Strong interest in microscopy methods Experience in cell and molecular biology (expertise in cloning is highly desired) We encourage applicants with a broad experimental-analytical interest as the job holder will contribute both to the development of new methods and their application to investigate the organization and dynamics of plexin receptors in the context of cancer Oral and written communication skills in English and, ideally, in German Ability to effectively work in an interdisciplinary team Proven experience in data acquisition and analysis of advance microscopy imaging techniques (e.g. confocal microscopy, TIRF, FRET, STORM, DNA-PAINT) (desired) WE OFFER: Salary according to tariff agreement, extra annual payment, and company pension plan (VBL) 30 days of vacation per year, plus two additional days off on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve Career development in a multidisciplinary and committed research team Mentorship, creative thinking, problem solving, and teamwork will be strongly promoted Work-life balance: Münster is one of the cities with the best quality of life Modern infrastructure, international and collaborative research environment For inquiries, please contact: Dr. Maria Florencia Sánchez, mf.sanchez@uni-muenster.de Apply now via our career portal until 11 February 2026.
