Exide Technologies’ Energy Solutions division is developing and manufacturing stationary energy storage batteries, from backup power to large-scale storage systems (BESS and C&I). Exide´s technology portfolio spans from multiple lead-acid over to lithium-ion technologies supporting the global energy transition and digitalization. Our storage systems are used in UPS, Telecom, Datacenters, Public Transport, in Front-of- and Behind-the-Meter applications and many more.

Director of Product Management
and Application Engineering (m/f/x)


Join our team in Büdingen (catchment area Frankfurt, Hanau, Gelnhausen, Gießen, Aschaffenburg) or in Gennevilliers (near Paris).
Your mission will be:
The Director of Product Management and Application Engineering will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our battery product lines. This leadership position requires a strategic thinker with deep expertise in battery technologies. The ideal candidate will drive product innovation, manage cross-functional teams, and ensure that our offerings meet market demands while adhering to regulatory standards.

What will your daily responsibilities include in this role?
Strategic Leadership
Vision Development: Establish and communicate a clear vision for product management and application engineering that aligns with the company’s overall strategic goals.
Roadmap Creation: Develop comprehensive product roadmaps for lead-acid and lithium battery technologies, focusing on both current offerings and future innovations.

Market Analysis & Customer Insights
Market Research: Conduct thorough market research to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape dynamics. Focus on applications within BESS, electric vehicles (EVs), and industrial sectors.
Customer Engagement: Engage with key customers and stakeholders to gather feedback on product performance and identify opportunities for improvement or new product development.

Product Development & Lifecycle Management
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Lead cross-functional teams comprising R&D, engineering, marketing, sales, and operations to ensure cohesive product development processes.
Lifecycle Oversight: Manage the entire product lifecycle from ideation through commercialization. This includes defining product specifications, overseeing design and testing phases, and developing go-to-market strategies.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all products comply with relevant safety and environmental regulations, including those specific to battery manufacturing.

Financial Performance & Optimization
Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets for product lines, ensuring alignment with financial goals and resource allocation.
Performance Metrics: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor product performance in the marketplace. Analyze data to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Team Leadership & Development
Mentorship: Provide mentorship and guidance to a team of product managers and application engineers. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
Talent Development: Identify skill gaps within the team and implement training programs to enhance capabilities in battery technology applications.


What we ask for:
Educational Background:
University degree in Engineering (Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical or similar).
Experience:
Multiple years of experience in product management within the battery industry, with a focus on lead-acid and lithium technologies.
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of batteries, manufacturing processes, and application engineering principles.
Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to battery safety and environmental impact.

Leadership Qualities:
Exceptional leadership skills with experience managing diverse teams across multiple functions.
Strong analytical abilities coupled with excellent communication skills to effectively convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Others:
Proficient written and spoken german and english skills
