About the Role


We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Game Designer to join our team at Bigpoint GmbH. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for defining and maintaining the creative vision for our games, ensuring it aligns with our strategic goals and resonates with our player base.


Key Responsibilities


  • Develop and refine game mechanics, systems, and features that enhance player engagement and satisfaction.
  • Lead and mentor a small team of game designers, fostering creativity and collaboration to achieve high-quality results.
  • Act as the key liaison between the design team and other departments, including programming, graphic design, and marketing, to ensure seamless integration of all game elements.
  • Prepare and present game concepts, progress updates, and design strategies to upper management, articulating the vision and rationale behind design decisions.
  • Ensure the quality, consistency, and innovation of game design across all features, from concept through to final release.
  • Analyze game performance metrics and player feedback to inform ongoing improvements and updates.
  • Oversee the design aspects of the development process, ensuring timelines and budgets are met while maintaining the creative integrity of the product.

Requirements


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Game Design, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in game design, with a strong focus on online-, mobile- and multiplayer games.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a small design team, with a track record of successful project delivery.
  • Exceptional creative skills with a deep understanding of game mechanics, player behavior, and industry trends.
  • Strong knowledge of game engines like Unity or Unreal Engine and familiarity with programming languages such as C++ or C#.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to both creative and non-creative stakeholders.
  • Experience in aligning game design with business objectives and player expectations.
