Senior Research Scientist Position, Head of MR Physics Group

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Scientist to lead our MR Physics Group and contribute to our research efforts in investigating age-related and experience-dependent metabolic and structural differences in the human brain.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and adapt MR brain imaging methodology for conducting longitudinal, cross-sectional, and interventional studies across the lifespan.
- Ensure optimal stability of the MRI system and lead a research group that offers reliable and valid functional and structural MR measures.
- Collaborate with scientists from cognitive neuroscience and have a strong track record of relevant publications in MR methods and applications.
- Develop and maintain open-source MRI software tools and have proficiency in computer programming (e.g., MATLAB, C).
- Doctoral degree in physics, chemistry, biology, neuroscience, or related fields.
- Experience in MR sequence programming, image reconstruction, and artifact mitigation, especially for high-field MRI.
- Strong interest in collaborating with scientists from cognitive neuroscience and a track record of independent work, mentoring experience, and leadership.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English and fluency in computer programming.
The Max Planck Institute for Human Development offers an excellent infrastructure, including support staff, and an international research environment with English as the working language. We have a 3T MR scanner and are in the process of acquiring additional equipment.
