Senior Civil Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Civil Engineer to join our team at U.S. Army Europe and Africa. As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for applying your expertise in Civil Engineering to resolve complex engineering problems and ensure the successful completion of military construction projects.
Key Responsibilities- Apply Civil Engineering skills to resolve complex engineering problems and ensure the successful completion of military construction projects.
- Prepare drawings, specifications, and design analyses for civil portions of designs performed in-house and review contractor's design submittals.
- Participate in design charrettes and related meetings.
- Assign projects of considerable difficulty, including combinations of unusual features, requiring significant departures from previous approaches to similar projects.
- Design review and design development are further complicated by the requirement to adhere to US and Host Nation building and life safety codes.
- Serve as a technical advisor to USAEDE engineers on complex design projects.
- Projects include both new construction and renovation of facilities in various locations.
- Perform complex technical calculations, perform quality control, and prepare necessary drawings, specifications, and supporting documents for advertised or negotiated procurements.
- Review and evaluate shop drawings, samples, and material certifications submitted by contractor for contract and performance requirements.
- Furnish technical advice to lower-grade engineers on possible approaches to the solution of specific design problems.
- Assist in training new civil engineers in the organization.
- Consult with construction division personnel to resolve differences and complex unforeseen problems and latent conditions developing during construction.
- Master's Degree or Dipl. Ing from a University.
- Office automation skills required.
- Driver's license class B required.
- Excellent knowledge of the relevant German standards and regulations like DIN standards, FGSV, DWA, and DVGW guidelines; knowledge of the VOB required.
- CAD proficiency required.
- English Language Proficiency Level C1 and German Language Proficiency Level C1 required.
This is a re-announcement of vacancy announcement. Occasionally temporary duty travel (TDY) required (25%). Situational teleworking possible.
