About the Role

The Database Operations Manager - Relational Databases Platform will be responsible for ensuring the stability, operability, and compliance of the Oracle and MariaDB database platform in a 24x7 operational environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan the deployment of database clusters according to customer requirements, supporting multi-Terabytes workloads, with a strong emphasis on high-availability and fault-tolerance.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the area of expertise, drive full set of people management activities, and coordinate the team.
  • Work closely with DBaaS operations, development, and product management counterparts for continuous improvement of the Oracle and MariaDB automation and tooling ecosystems.
  • Accountable for the operational performance and results of a large-sized team, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Lead, motivate, coach, and develop team members' skills and careers - drive a culture of strong staff engagement.
  • Contribute actively to the DBaaS department's strategy.
  • Demonstrate high-level autonomy, based on senior management directions, escalating issues whenever necessary.
Requirements
  • 8+ years managing software operations in a critical, highly available enterprise environment (24x7).
  • 5+ years in team leader/stream leader/people management position.
  • A Bachelor or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
  • A certification regarding relational database(s) and/or programming would be a plus.
Desirable Skills
  • Multi-year experience with people/stream management.
  • Field experience in supporting critical production workloads.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive mindset in mitigating/avoiding foreseeable issues.
  • Ability to collaborate with other leaders and management counterparts, demonstrate high-level autonomy.
  • Ability to work in multinational and multicultural environments.
  • Experience with Oracle database technologies (19c, 23ai), in Linux environment.
  • Experience with MySQL/MariaDB (10.x+) would be a plus.
  • Experience with database automation (Ansible, Python, shell, etc.) would be a plus.
  • Microsoft Azure experience and/or certification would be a plus.
