Job Summary:

Maintenance Technicians at Tallahassee Community College are responsible for performing maintenance and preventative maintenance on buildings and equipment, including electrical, plumbing, sheetrock, masonry, and related components. They operate, maintain, and repair HVAC systems and components, including building automation systems. Additionally, they operate and maintain vehicles, such as tractors, fork lifts, boom lifts, loaders, large trucks, and motorized carts. Maintenance Technicians also maintain small equipment used in the maintenance area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance and preventative maintenance on buildings and equipment
  • Operate, maintain, and repair HVAC systems and components
  • Operate and maintain vehicles
  • Maintain small equipment used in the maintenance area

Requirements:

  • Experience in at least three of the following areas: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, electronics, carpentry/masonry, AutoCAD or equivalent Computer Aided Drafting / Drawing Program
  • High School or GED is preferred

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work safely and proficiently in the areas of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and electronics
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions as directed
  • Ability to work independently and make independent judgments
  • Ability to walk, bend, stoop, climb ladders, stand for long periods of time, work outdoors in all types of weather and temperatures
  • Ability to lift and carry 75 pounds or more
  • Ability to drive, maintain, and repair vehicles, tractors, trucks, and equipment
  • Ability to use a two-way communication radio
  • Ability to serve in an on-call status on a rotating basis
