Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled HR Payroll and Pension Scheme Manager to join our team at EMBL. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the entire payroll cycle, including data maintenance, salary calculations, and pension scheme administration.

About the Role

This is a full-time position with a contract duration of 3 years, renewable based on performance and organisational needs. The successful candidate can expect a competitive monthly salary starting from €4,400 (gross), plus other paid benefits.

The role involves working closely with various stakeholders, including EMBL personnel, management, and external partners. As part of this role, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with EMBL's Staff Rules and Regulations (SRRs) and maintaining accurate records in our ERP system.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the entire payroll cycle, including data maintenance, salary calculations, and pension scheme administration.
  • Ensure compliance with EMBL's Staff Rules and Regulations (SRRs) and maintain accurate records in our ERP system.
  • Provide advice and interpretation of policies, rules, and regulations related to the EMBL pension scheme.
  • Process leaving actions, including end-of-contract payments and salary advances.
  • Draft audit responses to payroll-related queries.
  • Produce documentation on procedures and identify streamlining opportunities related to payroll, pension scheme, or related ERP modules.
  • Provide on-the-job training on matters pertaining to ERP data maintenance and pension scheme.
  • Refer to relevant focal points on matters pertaining to German social security and update SAP as appropriate.
Requirements
  • A minimum of five years of relevant HR experience, with knowledge of payroll processes and procedures.
  • Experience in Human Resources Management with sound understanding of social security systems and application of SRRs.
  • University degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Accounting/Finance, or other relevant disciplines, or extensive relevant experience with extensive training/certification.
  • Fluency in oral and written English is required; German language knowledge is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of the German Social Security system is an advantage.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work independently in their area of responsibility while seeking guidance when required. They will be able to work under pressure and deliver quality results within tight deadlines.

Evaluations will be conducted regularly to assess performance and ensure that the desired outcomes are achieved.
