We are seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join our research team at the Technical University of Munich. The successful candidate will work on high-precision environment perception using multi-modal sensors in the context of intelligent transportation systems and infrastructure-assisted autonomous driving.
Responsibilities- Conduct high-quality research in the field of high-precision environment perception using multi-modal sensors
- Regularly publish results in high-impact and peer-reviewed journals and conferences
- Develop and deploy the deployment architecture and computational resource allocation for the live test bed infrastructure covering the AI-toolchain, OS, and the middleware
- Participate in research projects, execute project deliverables, and generate reports
- Supervise student thesis and participate in periodic academic assignments at the chair
- Assist and actively participate in the drafting of research proposals
- Master's degree completed in computer science or engineering
- Proficiency in both written and spoken German to create project reports and participate at project meetings
- In-depth knowledge of machine-learning based approaches in theory and practice
- Strong programming skills in C++ and Python, and experience with machine-learning frameworks
- Working knowledge of Linux and a basic understanding of network administration
- Exposure to containerized deployment and open-source middleware (e.g. ROS1 and ROS2)
- Ability to work independently, willingness to learn and acquire new competence
