Research Opportunity
The Chair of Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and Real-Time Systems at the Technical University of Munich is seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to contribute to the development of multi-modal sensor systems for intelligent transportation systems.
About the Project
The project focuses on high-precision environment perception using multi-modal sensors, with a strong emphasis on machine-learning based approaches. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a state-of-the-art research infrastructure, experimenting, deploying, and testing solutions live and 24/7.
Responsibilities
- Conduct high-quality research in the field of high-precision environment perception using multi-modal sensors
- Regularly publish results in high-impact and peer-reviewed journals and conferences
- Develop and deploy the deployment architecture and computational resource allocation for the live test bed infrastructure
- Participate in research projects, execute project deliverables, and generate reports
- Supervise student thesis and participate in periodic academic assignments
- Assist in the drafting of research proposals
Requirements
- Master's degree in computer science or engineering
- Proficiency in both written and spoken German
- In-depth knowledge of machine-learning based approaches in theory and practice
- Strong programming skills in C++ and Python, and experience with machine-learning frameworks
- Working knowledge of Linux and basic understanding of network administration
- Exposure to containerized deployment and open-source middleware
