Research Associate Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Associate to join our team at Universität Hamburg. The successful candidate will be part of the research group on "Topology in Condensed Matter Systems" at the I. Institute of Theoretical Physics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct cutting-edge research in machine learning algorithms applied to quantum systems, focusing on anyonic excitations and spin systems.
  • Engage in collaborative research with team members from University of Hamburg and its international partners.
  • Publish findings in scientific journals and present at international conferences.
  • Contribute to the machine learning task force within the cluster of excellence 'CUI: Advanced Imaging of Matter'.
  • Teach four hours per week during teaching times in the period from as soon as possible until 12/31/2025.

Requirements

  • A university degree in a relevant field.
  • A PhD in a relevant field is desirable or a strong record in scientific work equivalent to a PhD degree.
  • Fluency in English.
  • A proven track record of publications in relevant fields, especially quantum spin systems, quantum spin liquids or related areas.
  • Initial experience in machine learning.
  • Strong analytical and numerical problem-solving skills.
  • Enthusiasm for international interdisciplinary research and collaboration.
