Mission Controller

Serco is seeking a highly skilled Mission Controller to join our team at EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany. As a Mission Controller, you will play a critical role in the operations and maintenance of satellite ground segments, ensuring the reliable dissemination of vital weather and climate data.
Key Responsibilities- Operate the mission control system on a 24/7 shift basis, including parts of the ground segment and space segment.
- Assist in configuring and testing the operational system to support operations.
- Take corrective action in case of ground or space segment anomalies, applying contingency/emergency procedures to ensure spacecraft safety and continuity of service provision.
- Participate in other operations-related activities, such as small system development, procedure development, or maintenance, as requested by the team.
- Experience working with computer systems and PC literacy is required.
- Adaptable, self-disciplined, and able to work in a calm and correct manner under conditions of stress.
- Must be able to work a shift rotation.
- Must be able to fit in well within a small operations team.
- Should have a solid background in a technical environment.
- Ex-military personnel should have completed a service College apprenticeship in electronics/telecommunications and possess a background in Avionics, Air Defence, Air Radar, or Communications or in any relevant area.
- Should preferably have a degree at BSc level in a relevant subject such as IT, Telecommunications, Physics, or Aerospace engineering.
- Relocation allowance, including a one-way flight ticket, transportation from the airport to a temporary hotel, and one month of paid accommodation while securing permanent housing.
