Senior System Administrator

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior System Administrator to join our team at Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for the further development and optimization of our IT infrastructure, including software and hardware.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement automation solutions to improve IT processes and efficiency.
  • Provide day-to-day administration and support for scientific staff across locations, institutions, and organizations.
  • Support and develop our on-premise cluster systems, such as the Fraunhofer Edge Cloud, in collaboration with the DevOps team.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux, Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Puppet, Terraform), Storage (iSCSI-SAN, NAS), and virtual environments (e.g. VSphere).
  • Initial experience with HashiCorp Stack, Docker, GitLab-CI, Jenkins, or Kubernetes is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with implementing, configuring, and operating virtualized server systems in complex networks.
  • Fluency in written and spoken German and English.
