Your Job:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled PhD researcher to join our team at Forschungszentrum Jülich. As a PhD researcher, you will be responsible for characterizing and optimizing a lab-based GC-HID-ECD instrument to measure H2, CH4, N2O, and SF6. You will also construct and characterize an AirCore to sample air masses without disturbing the target trace gases.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing new methods for air sampling and analysis
  • Collaborating with our modeling department to investigate the climate impact of measured H2 profiles
  • Conducting regular balloon launches with AirCores in Jülich and analyzing collected air samples with the GC-HID-ECD system
Your Profile:

We are looking for a highly qualified and motivated individual with a strong background in meteorology, physics, chemistry, environmental sciences, or a related field. Essential skills include:

  • Excellent experimental skills
  • Experience with AirCores, GC systems, and balloon observations
  • Solid programming skills in Python for data analysis
