About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Bioinformatics Analyst to join our team at BASF SE. As a key member of our global research organization, you will play a critical role in providing bioinformatics analyses and decision support to our biotechnology research and development activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, analyze, and compare biological data to draw conclusions and communicate results to non-technical audiences.
  • Work closely with experimental molecular biology and sequencing labs to develop innovative solutions to biotechnology problems.
  • Provide guidance to project partners on experimental planning, data collection, and processing.
  • Develop new methods using sequencing technologies and guide the establishment of new assays in molecular analytics.
  • Manage projects and participate in global cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field with experience in handling and analysis of NGS and biological data.
  • Profound scripting abilities (e.g., Python, R, shell scripting) and experience in at least one programming language (e.g., C, C++, Java).
  • Working knowledge of UNIX-like operating systems and database systems, as well as thorough knowledge of bioinformatics tools.
  • Experience in handling and analyzing genomics, transcriptomics, or proteomics data.
  • Preferred experience working with NGS data from both prokaryotes and eukaryotes.
  • Basic experience working with workflow managers and containerization.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to actively communicate with data producers and users in an interdisciplinary environment.
  • Entrepreneurial and team-oriented.
