About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Molecular Genetics Specialist to join our team at LNS - Laboratoire National de Santé. This is a permanent position on a full-time basis (40h/week) in our department "National Center of Genetics".

Responsibilities
  • Validate patient diagnostic reports and sign off as necessary;
  • Analyze and interpret NGS datasets (large panels, exomes, genomes) for rare genetic disorders and/or cancer, and write comprehensive molecular diagnostic reports;
  • Contribute to the analysis, interpretation, and reporting of non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT);
  • Support the ongoing efforts to achieve ISO 15189 accreditation;
  • Develop and implement new tests and methods in collaboration with the laboratory team;
  • Provide genetic counselling to patients (oncogenetics), if interested and qualified;
  • Foster strong relationships with all LNS stakeholders, including hospitals, physicians, and laboratories;
  • Contribute to the establishment of a research strategy for the NCG by initiating new scientific projects of interest;
  • Possibility to participate in teaching activities at the University of Luxembourg.
About You
  • You must be an MD or MD/PhD with board certification in human genetics or medical genetics, specializing in laboratory genetics, with extensive experience in molecular genetics;
  • You need to hold an authorization to practice medicine in Luxembourg;
  • A strong interest in molecular diagnostics of rare genetic disorders and/or cancer genetics and genomics is essential;
  • You should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in molecular diagnostics;
  • Knowledge of NIPT testing and next-generation sequencing (large gene panels, exomes, genomes) and their interpretation is advantageous;
  • Bioinformatics and analysis of large datasets expertise is also beneficial;
  • You should be familiar with quality and accreditation processes for genetic testing;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively within a diverse team, are required;
  • A proven track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals is desirable;
  • Proactive task management skills and attention to detail are essential;
  • You must have excellent English language skills and good communication skills in either French or German, with fluency in Luxemburgish being an advantage.

The salary for this role is approximately €70,000-€100,000 per year, depending on experience.
