Program Associate

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Program Associate to join our team at the Division of Agriculture of the University of Arkansas. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating in an independent, decision-making role in the planning and execution of programs, working closely with Project Leaders and other supervisors to coordinate work objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute effectively to the conceptual framework, program design, result dissemination, educational activities, and the pursuit of extramural financial support.
- Establish large plot research trials, scout and manage crops, establish on-farm research, and perform other field activities in agricultural research and outreach.
- Repair and install equipment, plant crops, harvest crops, operate large equipment, GPS equipment, spray crops, retrieve information from data logging equipment, collect and summarize data, and perform statistical analysis for field experiments.
- Assist with the facilitation of the Arkansas Irrigation Yield Contest and develop materials for reports, publications, extension programs, and research presentations.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanized Systems Management, Agriculture Technology Management, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Engineering, Agronomy, Soil Science, Crop Science, or a related technical agricultural or environmental field, plus three years of related experience, or a Master's degree in a related field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, data management, and email programs, and a high level of technical competence in irrigation.
- Ability to develop and deliver presentations, exercise initiative, make sound judgments, and work independently, and relate and respond to the needs of supervisors, subordinates, and clientele.
The employee must be able to perform physical work such as lifting a minimum weight of 50 pounds and operate ATV. The job also requires driving long distances and walking and working on cooperating producer farms.
