Münster, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Deutschland Universitätsklinikum Münster Vollzeit

The Universitätsklinikum Münster, one of Germany’s leading hospitals, is seeking a highly motivated and skilled PhD Student to join its research group in pharmacoepidemiology. This full-time position, available for 3 years starting April 2025, offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a project funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) that assesses the safety of medication use for oral diseases.

This role involves working on a work package within the project, preparing and registering study protocols, managing electronic health records, implementing pre-specified trial designs, conducting statistical analyses, attending training activities, presenting findings in team meetings, and publishing scientific papers.

We are interested in recruiting a candidate with a strong academic background in epidemiology, statistics, mathematics, or pharmacy. Good programming skills, particularly in Linux and R, and knowledge of Python are desirable.

In this role, you will have access to cutting-edge computing infrastructure, opportunities for professional development, and collaboration with an international team promoting scientific excellence and career growth. As part of our team, you will be encouraged to develop your personal fellowship and apply for grants.

Our team fosters a culture of scientific curiosity, enthusiasm, and ambition. We are committed to minimizing observational study bias through rigorous study designs and robust statistical insights. If you are passionate about pharmacoepidemiology, possess excellent communication skills, and are eager to adapt epidemiological methodology to clinical relevance, we invite you to apply for this challenging and rewarding position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting statistical analyses using inverse probability weighting and instrumental variable estimation
  • Implementing pre-specified trial designs and performing data management tasks
  • Preparing and registering study protocols, and writing scientific papers

Requirements:

  • Strong background in pharmacoepidemiology and causal inference
  • Good programming skills in Linux, R, and Python
  • Experience in addressing drug safety issues using large claims or electronic health records
  • Excellent command of English and good communication skills

Benefits:

  • Full-time employment contract for 3 years
  • Salary according to German TV-L E13 scale
  • Access to state-of-the-art computing infrastructure
  • Ongoing professional development and support for further education
  • Multidisciplinary research environment with opportunities for collaboration and networking
