Medtronic's Surgical Operating Unit is seeking a highly skilled Principal Embedded Software Engineer to join our world-class team of mechanical, electrical, and software engineers. As a key contributor to the embedded software development efforts, you will work in a fast-paced environment to design, code, and test software for our globally launched Robotic Assisted Surgery platform.

About the Role

You will be responsible for leading the development of embedded software for our robotic systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to complete requirements definition, design, code implementation, unit test, and system verification and validation. Your expertise in software architecture design, Agile/Scrum/SAFe software development practices, and experience leading an engineering team will be invaluable in driving our innovation forward.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient in C++ and Python
  • Experience in hands-on development and troubleshooting embedded systems
  • Deep understanding of Linux, QNX, or other OS
  • Experience in software architecture design
  • Experience leading an engineering team
  • Experience developing software for robotic systems
  • Experience with medical devices
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum/SAFe software development practices
