About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technician Molecular Biology and Cell Culture Specialist to join our team at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. As a key member of our research group, you will be responsible for cultivating cell lines and primary cells, performing genetic engineering tasks, and supporting laboratory organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cultivation of cell lines and primary cells
  • Genetic engineering tasks, including transfection and transduction with Lenti- and Adenoviral vectors (Safety level S2)
  • Extraction and dissection of primary neurons from rodents
  • Application of immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence assays
  • Support in laboratory organization, including equipment maintenance and inventory management
  • Documentation of workflows, following operating procedures and adhering to safety and institutional policies
  • Methodical teaching of doctoral students and support in preparation of experiments
Requirements
  • Molecular Biology education as Biologielaborant, BTA, or Laboratory Assistant, or BSc in Biology
  • FELASA certificate and experience in extraction and dissection of tissue from rodents
  • In-depth practical experience with cell cultures (2+ years in the lab)
  • Experience with genetic engineering techniques and work in facilities at biosafety level S2 is considered a great advantage
  • General interest in neurobiology and biomaterials
  • Ability to work in a precise, careful, and well-structured way with recurring tasks
  • Very good command in spoken and written English
  • German language skills are considered a plus
  • Basic computer skills, especially in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Confident and friendly demeanor, ability to work in a team in a multinational environment
About the Project

We offer a 1-year project-based contract with the possibility for extension. As a member of our team, you will contribute to highly innovative EIC-funded projects in the field of neuromodulation, which will change the future possibilities for treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. You will become part of an international and interdisciplinary team of scientists, collaborating with leading scientific institutions all over Europe and beyond.
